Can a Locksmith Open a Safe?

Can a Locksmith Open a Safe?

Yes, it is possible for a locksmith to open a safe, but you will need to find some information first.

To open a safe, a locksmith needs the safe brand name, model, and serial number. The brand is not difficult to find – it’s usually right on the door. You will more than likely also find the serial number on the bottom corner of the safe door.

The model number can be difficult to find as it is often on the back of the safe. If you have the serial number but not the model number, you can contact the manufacturer to get all the information you need.

Once a locksmith has these details, it’s possible to determine the correct drill points, allowing them to access the safe without damaging it completely.

With the serial number, it is also possible for a locksmith to retrieve the original safe dial combination – provided the combination has never changed. If you happen to have an electronic safe, the serial number can be used to source a master override code.

Before a locksmith can unlock a safe though, you need to be at the location and verify that you are the owner.
